Four years ago today, we were standing in My Father's House in the Philippines meeting our precious little girl. Boy, has she grown. From a tiny little six year old to a beautiful, graceful ten year old, we have watched her mature into a poised young lady. In case you ever wonder about God's plan, I feel compelled to share the story of her name with you. For you see, Psalm 139 is true for each of us, no matter our circumstance.
M's birthmom did not realize that God had laid a name on her heart for a purpose far beyond her thoughts. M's name has an incredible meaning. It means "wished for- fourth child." M was certainly wished for by our family, but she also happens to be our fourth child. M takes great pride in the meaning of her name, for she knows that God knew her and named her. We remain ever grateful to M's birthmom for giving her life and for doing the best she knew how to care for M.
She always amazes us with her diligence and determination in all that she does. In her sometimes quiet, sometimes complete goofiness, we stand amazed at God's goodness and grace in her life.
She often reflects on why God brought her into our family. She is certain that the Lord brought her to us and feels like she has been called to someday return to her homeland to minister in His name. I cry every time she talks about it, not out of selfishness, but out of a humble heart that I have been privileged to be her mom. I wonder what God has planned for her future. Her greatest desire is to marry a missions minded man who will return with her. Big J reminds her that if God doesn't provide that guy for her, that he will build a house next door to hers and take care of her wherever the Lord takes her.
The Lord has grown us in ways we never would have had we not had the privilege of parenting her. Oh, how blessed we are.
Our eternal thanks and gratitude remains towards Tita Deanna, Ate Wheng, Ate Ramah and the many others at MFH for loving her and taking care of her until the Lord saw fit that we would be allowed to bring her to her home.
